Those of you who attending the 2009 Eastern US Rally in Cass, WV received a pre-announcement of this, but now it's official:

The 2010 F800 Riders Global Rally will be in Cherokee, NC in late September 2010.

The title of this has changed from last year for good reason - this rally will coincide with the 5th anniversary of F800Riders.org and we're planning to go all out. We're planning a celebration for all F800 Riders, and you're cordially invited. If you're planning to attend a rally next year - this will need to be on your list.

Details on the event are still being worked out, but here is what we know so far:
  • Location: Cherokee/Brison City/Tellico Plains, NC. area.
  • When: Late September 2010, potentially early October 2010 - date to be confirmed soon.
  • Lodging: Not confirmed, but there will be a single hotel with traditional rooms, cabins, and camping.
  • Meals: Informal dinner on Friday night (pizza or something) and a nice, sit down dinner on Saturday. Each will be very, very casual.
  • Swag: An F800 Riders t-shirt (in black), iron on patch, and reflective sticker.
  • Other Stuff: Door prizes, group rides, competitions, vendors, etc.

The goal for this is to be a truly GLOBAL rally. If you would like to attend from a great distance away, please let me know. I'm more than willing to work personally with you plan out your trip. (flying, driving, or riding! )

Folks are more than encouraged to caravan with others who are looking to attend. We're adding functionality to the forum to allow Google maps to be posted to better facilitate group travel.

That's all for now. More information soon. Keep checking this forum, and your email for updates as they become available.

There was a big motorcycle rally in Cherokee this past weekend. It's a great area with lots of riding choices and things to do. Harraha's has a casino there as well. Fairly good cell service too. Good work Rob,you've done it again.

Nope, we're tentatively looking at either October 1-2 or the weekend before. They year the Catskills rally was the weekend after.

who rents motorcycles, and are F800s available for rent through some kind of bike rental agency? This is enough lead time that I can plan a trip back home then rent a bike and make it to this meet.

No way, Toby, we need to witness the Bumblebee, so call Forward Air right now [g].

I drove this part of NC in a cage a few years ago and really liked the roads & scenery. Marking my calendar.

Please just make sure it doesn't conflict w/ Indy MotoGP again (end August) as it did this year.

Toby-If you make it home to Toledo would love to ride with you to the rally. Based upon your posts, we could meet up in Dayton on Interstate 75 and I can keep up with you all the way to Middletown before you'd leave me in the dust...

sounds like a plan trust me, I've had far too many run-ins with Ohio Highway Patrol in my life to even consider riding 5mph over the speed limit! Plus I'll likely be riding two-up with the Wife so no crazy riding with a pillion, that's a rule in my book.

I would be starting from Ann Arbor (which is where my stateside home now is) but I'd still be taking 75 anyways. Unless my best friend since kindergarten comes along, he's in Columbus - from Cleveland, wouldn't you cut across and pass through Columbus on the way to Dayton? But my friend is a Triumph rider, dyed in the wool...

Toby-yes, I'd run right through Columbus and actually continue on Interstate 71 to Cincinatti...but I can divert W from Columbus to Dayton. Whatever works.

I know locally here in Washington/Baltimore there are a number of places that rent bikes. I have not seen any F800s yet but they do rent some of the K bikes plus of course Harleys and Goldwings.

Try

Eagle Rider has an Atlanta office.

I think I may attend this if my F800 is out of the shop by September 2010.

Don and I will be there too.

Don't know how much leave I'll have - if I'm short on time we may trailer the bikes again. But I really want to become an End-to-Ender (to explain before your minds go crazy, that means a person who has ridden the entire Blue Ridge Parkway), so I'm hoping we can ride. Then I can send away for a certificate!

Looking forward to it!

Dual-sport ride(s) wanted. (Had we planned such a ride in advance in West Virginia, there would have been more takers.)

Great region - I rode through there Sep 19 and 20. Please put Cherokee at the bottom of the list due to traffic, high prices, and no alchohol. How about Bryson City? I talked to some other riders who were attending a rally there.

We're currently investigating an various sites that could host us. The one on the top of the list is not within the city of Cherokee.

Point noted about traffic.
